Just one full week of classes left! This school year is quickly coming to a close, but before we become frantic hermits studying for finals, keep in mind the various service projects and events we still have before the end of the semester!
As always, there is a lot to cover, so I’m going to break up this email into a few sections to make it easier to read
Community Service News
A big thank you to those who attended the Port Richmond Love Your Block event yesterday! The event was a a huge success and a lot of volunteers from many organizations turned out. In total, we had five members participate, so it will count towards the community service requirement for SGA. With that in mind, we have now completed the necessary number of projects to be eligible for a budget next year!
Still, we won’t be stopping here. Just a reminder that the Lupus Walk will be May 5 (next Sunday) on the Oval at 12pm. I would like to see us all come out for that event as well. Let’s support our fellow Wagner students in their endeavors.
Furthermore, I have continued contact with Anne Lau, director of children’s ministries at Salem. While I initially contacted her to seek volunteer positions in childcare during services, it has become evident that we do not have enough time in the semester to begin this project. Nevertheless, Mrs. Lau has offered us a project in organizing and inventorying the children’s ministry supplies, not this weekend but next weekend, May 11th at 9am. Please let me know if you can make it. Note: Even if we do not have five volunteers (as per SGA requirements), we will still be attending.
Last note for community service news, while it is a summer away, we should be thinking about projects for next year. I am hoping that we will be able to complete the childcare volunteer process at Salem in the first few weeks of the next semester so that we can join the regular rotation of volunteers. Also, a bulletin was sent out a few days ago about volunteering at freshman move-in. This would be a wonderful opportunity to meet the incoming students and let them know that there is a Christian presence on campus and that we would love to have them. For more information, visit www.tinyurl.com/moveinsignup.Please let me know if you are interested ASAP. I would like to sign us up as a group within the next week or so.
Christian Fellowship T-Shirts!!!
Since we have completed the mandatory community service projects as required by SGA, we should be receiving a budget next year! We have so many ideas of new projects and events that having a little money will allow us to do, but first off, what about some snazzy Christian Fellowship t-shirts? During a homework procrastination induced productivity period the other day, I played around with a few designs and I’d like to know what you think! I’ve attached the design to this email and would love your feedback. If we decide to help with move-in, I think it would be fantastic if we could have t-shirts ordered by then. But as it stands, we will plan to order t-shirts for next semester, sometime in the first few weeks of school.
That’s all folks! Sorry for another long letter, but we’ve just been keeping busy and I don’t want anyone to miss out on anything because of a lack of information. I hope to see you all come to Meghan’s Solo Devotional Night this Wednesday at 9pm in Guild 304, the various community service events we have planned, and/or church on Sunday! Please, please, please let me know if you can make it to each of the events, which include (as a reminder), the Lupus Walk, Childcare Clean Up, and Move-In Day.
Have a great last week of classes!
